Personal Character Project.
From the Grim Dark galaxy of Warhammer 40,000 comes this hardened battle sister. Fresh from the muddy fields of battle, she poses atop the remains of her foe - a chaos cultist who met his end at the end of her powersword!
In this project I wanted to build a functioning character that could be animated and work in a games engine. The goal was to build the armour from the body, outwards, relying on correct proportions and logical solutions to the problems posed by the small scale miniatures. Overall I think I was successful in this project but with everything, there is always room for iterative improvement!
I didn't want to cut polycount and chose to model the character with subdivisions in mind.

Walk Cycle, animated in maya, exported out as an Alembic Cache and into Marmoset Toolbag 4. I had to break the body into 4 different sections when animating as the file sizes were getting up there in the gigabytes!
I wanted to do a small cinematic piece, with a loose narrative within Unreal Engine 4. In this project I tried to rig the character so that the armour would be functioning properly. Music Dark Side Of Mars by Shane Ivers httpswww.silvermansound.com
Power Sword Presentation. Following some feedback I made the decision to amend the thickness of the Sword's quillon.
Power Sword energy field test. Rendered in marmoset toolbag 4. In the end I had to depart from my initial idea and find an alternative solution using a noise texture baked into the alembic cache. A texture was then animated in the U axis.
